Obituary

Our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Benjamin Lane Hansen, passed away August 26, 2021. Ben is the son of Christian and Marnie Hansen, and was born in Spokane on September 30, 2002. Ben attended Prairie View Elementary, Northwood Middle School, and Mead High School in Spokane, WA. His family has deep roots in Deer Park, and he lived with his family for a couple years in Maple Valley, WA. Like his brothers, he enjoyed drumming, and was a member of the drumline with the Mead Panther marching band.

Ben's smile was contagious. He put people at ease. He had a gentle, kind, and giving heart. At the age of 10, he saved enough money to buy two cases of bibles. It was his idea to give local homeless people a burger, and a bible: to his family it became known as "bibles and burgers". Together with his family they passed out burgers and offered a bible at the Seattle waterfront.

Ben dreamed of joining the military, so at 13 joined the Navy Sea Cadets in Spokane, and even completed a week of "boot camp" at the ocean, near Portland.

Ben had a passion for the outdoors, and hunting. He loved spending time with his Uncle Jason, who taught him how to hunt and to love the outdoors. He was proud to hunt turkey, deer, and other game; he was equally proud to bring them home and cook them for his family.

Like his Dad, Ben loved cars, especially performance cars. He dreamed of owning a Hyundai Genesis, and then "modding" it to make it faster.

One of Ben's proudest accomplishments was establishing his own residence, purchasing a car, and paying for his own living expenses by age eighteen.

Ben was a kind, caring person who deeply loved his family and friends. We will always fiercely love you, Benjamin, for the rest of our days.

Ben is survived by his father and mother, Chris and Marnie, brothers Sam, Hagan, Adam, and sister Grace; grandparents Floyd and Tina Cartee, John and Joanne Hansen; aunts and uncles Jim (Ann) Hansen, Teresa (Bob) Hansen, Kelsey Anderson, Jason (Dallas) Cartee, Shawna Cordova; numerous cousins, and the love of his life, Autumn Carroll. Ben was preceded in death by uncles Jess Cartee and Rick Bell.
