Rickey (Rick) Lynn McCoy passed away February 4, 2024 in his Deer Park home at the age of 73.  The way he died is just like he lived, he wrote his own rules, paving his own way.  If you said he couldn't do it, he would make sure he could.  Anyone else fighting cancer would have gone quietly, but Rick rode that Harley full throttle through those Pearly Gates.

Being the oldest of 7 children born in Pueblo, Colorado to J.L. and Lura McCoy he always had that leadership mentality or as he called it "blunt honesty".  Rick loved getting together for biscuits & gravy and good country living.  There was never a dull moment with the McCoy's.  He is going to be missed by all his siblings Richard (Jennifer) McCoy, Debra (Rory) Cook, Robert McCoy, Ronald (Vicky) McCoy, Becky (Harmon) Jansen, Cheryl McCoy Merrill, plus nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

1969 the paper headlines read "September 14 Number 1 Lottery for the Draft".  Rick's birthday brought two terms in Vietnam as a Buck Sergeant.  He came home with a best friend in Dale Thomas, married Christine Arnold Lee from 1971-2000 and a daughter Michelle Dawn.  They added a fireball son, Rick Jay, a few years later.

Rick went from Marlboro Man, to his beloved four legged power horse TJ, to his steel horse the Harley Davidson. Not one to slow down, he took yearly biker trips with the "Ice Tea Gang", was involved in the Patriot Guard, active VFW member and an Eagles member.  Traveling from Washington State to Washington D.C. with fellow Veterans on Harleys in your 60's made him the "Coolest Grandpa Ever".

One night a devilishly handsome, karaoke crooner, belting out George Jones caught the eye of a beauty and it was love at first sight.  Of all the people he touched, the one he touched the most was his wife of 15 years, Sylvia Lee McCoy, who supported him lovingly and proved to be one of his best decisions.  He gained a bonus family with her three sons and their families, William (Jamie) Lenz, Daniel (Dawn) Lenz, Joseph (Somer) Lenz and grandchildren Brayden, Jared, Tylor, Gabe, Gavin, Morgan, and Harper. He will forever be in their hearts.

His awareness of a life lived with the ones you love was shown to the end with his children and grandchildren.  One last road trip with laughs, snoring, talking, and singing with each of his kids was fit in along with him personally handing his mementos to his grandchildren. His legacy will continue through his children Michelle (Dan) McMurray, Rick (Megan) McCoy and grandchildren Bailey, Casey, Dylan, Ryder, and Mckenna.
