Mary Ann (Bays) Riggle left this world on her new adventure on July 15, 2024. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister – she is survived by her husband of 57 years: Duane Riggle; three daughters: Lucinda (Riggle) Smalldridge (Tim), Tamara Riggle Knutti, Courtney Riggle (Scott Breneman), Sister Maxine (Bays) Johnston (Lonny White); six grandchildren: London, Daniel, Sienna, Amaia, Falina, and Kalana; and one great-grandchild: Theodore.

Mary Ann was born to Helen (Rice) Batty and Maxwell Bays in 1945 in Sacramento, CA and lived her early years in Malad, ID and multiple locations while her family moved around. Her father, Max, passed on in an accident when she was six years old, and her mother, Helen, remarried Kenneth Batty. The family, including Mary Ann, sister Maxine, and (late) brother Roy Bays, moved to the Batty Ranch located on the Snake River in Wawawai, WA, where her Stepfather Kenneth Batty became a guiding influence on her life and where Mary Ann resided through the rest of her youth until leaving home for college. Note: Batty Ranch was a cattle ranch and fruit orchard until 1969, when the Lower Granite Dam was built on the Snake River and flooded the homestead. Some of Mary Ann's fondest childhood memories as a "River Rat" (as the kids were called) include sneaking watermelons, chasing cows on horseback up the steep Snake River Canyons, dodging rattlesnakes, and crossing the river on a raft to catch the sidecar to Lewiston for a weekend outing.

While living at Wawawai, Mary Ann attended and graduated as Salutatorian from Colton-Uniontown High School, then moved to Pullman, WA to attend college at Washington State University (WSU). At WSU, she earned her Bachelor's degree in business and also met her life-long partner and husband, Duane Riggle, of Springdale, WA. After graduating from WSU and getting married in 1967, Mary Ann supported Duane as an Air Force wife through pilot training and multiple deployments during the Vietnam War, during which time all three of her girls were born. The family's military travels ended in 1975, when Duane resigned his commission and the family moved to a ranch in Deer Park, WA. Mary Ann spent her next 49 years as a rancher, working the farm, raising kids, and also working off-farm at several area businesses over the years, including Barrile Law Offices, which she retired from after 9 years as a legal secretary.

Mary Ann will be remembered for her beautiful smile, tenaciousness and sharp wit, country dance moves, her ability to turn a few simple ingredients into an amazing meal, and also for growing the best red potatoes in the county.

Her family and friends love and miss her dearly
