With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, JoAn Hertlein, on September 29, 2022. JoAn was born March 27, 1944 to Glen and Veretta Helm. She graduated from Clarkston High School in 1962 and attended BYU Idaho. She met Lyle Jones in Rexburg, Idaho and they married in 1964. They had three children Jody, Tina and Dennis. JoAn lived with her sister Lois for a time and grew very close with her Harris nephews and niece. JoAn was a single mom for a time which was no easy feat. She was resilient and persevered with strength and grace. She worked for the Social Security Administration for more than 25 years.

She met the love of her life, Clyde Hertlein and they were married in Hawaii in 1988. They moved to Clayton Washington in 1992 where they enjoyed the peace and quiet of the woods. She loved the hummingbirds, deer, and various other wildlife there. She adored her family and loved having their children and grandchildren out for barbeques and bonfires. She retired in 1999 and traveled with Clyde. They visited many national parks, Canada and several European countries.

JoAn will be greatly missed by her friends and family, as well as her church family. She is survived by her three children Jody (Ron) Johnson, Christina Hall, Dennis Jones, her step-children Rory (Wendy) Hertlein, Cynthia Sims as well as nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her brother Douglas (Linda) Helm, her sister Mary Jane Helm, her many beloved nephews and nieces, and her cat Charlie. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Clyde, her parents Glen and Veretta Helm, sister Lois Harris, brother Dick Helm. We will greatly miss her sweet spirit, sound advice and beautiful smile.
