Obituary

James Bernard Young was born September 3,1929 in Oklahoma City to Jess and Josephine Young. He was raised in San Fernando Valley, California with his brothers and sisters. James joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and spent 6 years serving. During a military leave in 1950 James met the love of his life Melvina. James and Mel were married in the spring of 1951 and they began their family of five. He served as a police officer in the southern California area for 25 years. Shortly after retiring, James and Mel moved to Deer Park, Washington where they bought a 40-acre farm and started a tire business that served the Deer Park area for 30 years. James thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family. They spent a lot of time camping, fishing, farming and of course family get togethers. He was blessed with five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. They were the light of his retirement years. James is survived by his Wife Melvina, sons Kurt and Kenny, daughters Joyce Terra (Gene) and Lynn Griffin (Gordon) and all of his grand and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charlie Young and his son Karl Young. A funeral mass for James is to be held at the St. Mary's Presentation Catholic Church, 602 E 6 th St. Deer Park WA, 99006 on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 11am. Graveside and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests you make a donation to the Union Gospel Mission.
