Obituary

Jack L. Rountree peacefully passed away on the morning of February 14, 2024. He was born in Spokane, WA to Alice Harr (Beardsley) and Jack K. Rountree on July 6, 1947. Jack spent most of his life in Spokane. He attended Stadium Elementary, Glover Middle School, where he met his wife Karen (Ross) Rountree, and graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1965. He joined the Navy in August of 1968 and married the love of his life Karen on November 23, 1968. They settled in Seattle, WA for a few years where Jack was stationed with the Navy. He eventually transitioned into the Navy Reserve until his retirement as Master Chief in 1989. In 1970, Jack and Karen returned to their hometown of Spokane where they purchased the first of many homes and raised their 2 daughters. Jack worked in the parking industry along with owning his own business as well as plowing snow independently for more than 45 years. Jack was also a "jack" of many trades and was very proud of the family cabin he built at Sacheen Lake. He spent many years working on and building 2 hot rods, his favorite being a '54 Chevy pickup. Jack and Karen enjoyed taking part in several car shows throughout the years and spent many weekends snowmobiling with the Winter Knights. Jack officially retired from working in 2016 but did not sit idle for long. He kept himself busy with his love of gardening, boy did he love his tomatoes and beans, working for his friend Dan and rebuilding old radios in his shop. Jack will be missed by many! He was a loving father and devoted Papa, rarely missing any sports or events his grandkids were involved in.

Jack is preceded in death by his wife Karen, he is survived by his sister Carole Rohweder (Boise), daughters Amy (Nathan Holes), Kati (Chad Spencer); grandchildren Jackson, Annie, William and Scarlett.
