Jack L
Lewis
Nov 10, 1933 — Oct 9, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Leon Lewis, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who peacefully passed away on October 9, 2024 at the age of 90.
Jack was born on November 10, 1933 to Elva and Hays Lewis of Bigfoot Valley just west of Deer Park. Jack was one of 14 children; he and his sister Jean were one of two sets of twins.
Remembered for his hard work, beautiful garden, and dedication to his family, Jack was a tireless worker who often worked multiple jobs to meet his family's needs. Jack would jokingly tell everyone who would listen that he was the "hardest up guy in Deer Park" followed by "I didn't know where my next dime will come from".
Jack always found time to tend his garden, which fed many. He coached little league baseball, chaperoned band trips, repaired/maintained community buildings or projects and on occasion would go hunting and fishing.
Jack enlisted in the US Army his junior year of high school during the Korean War and served three years.
Jack married Ellen (Wiltse) on August 12th, 1955, and they were married for 66 years. They enjoyed family time, were members of the Clayton Grange and were avid Spokane Chiefs hockey fans.
Jack is survived by his six children; Edward (Tammy) Lewis, Melody (Gary) Whitney, Lizann Murphy, Mark (Diane) Lewis, Diane Embler, Donald (Kimberly) Lewis; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and one brother Jimmy. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Ellen and two son in-laws, Lenard Murphy and Fred Embler.
A memorial service will be held on October 19, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. in the Community Room at Fire Station 41, 315 E Crawford, Deer Park with a light lunch to follow.
