Gerhard Henning Jorgenson

Gerhard Henning Jorgenson, beloved father, brother, mentor, and friend, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the age of 85. He was called home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and a passion for life that touched the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on February 26, 1939, in Graceville, Minnesota, to Henning Jorgenson and Gina Marion (Simonson) Jorgenson, Gerhard was one of six brothers. Raised with a strong sense of family and community, he embraced the values of faith, loyalty, and service from an early age. As a young man, he enlisted in the United States Military, where he served with distinction. During his service, he took great joy in teaching knot tying—a skill that became a lifelong passion he later shared with friends and family.

Known as "the salt of the earth," Gerhard was a devoted follower of Christ, and his life reflected his unwavering faith. His deep connection to the Lord guided his actions and relationships, he was a true example of humility, grace, and love. Whether through a kind word, an act of service, or a story shared around the campfire, Gerhard embodied the spirit of compassion and generosity.

A gifted storyteller and poet, Gerhard had a natural ability to bring people together through his words. His tales, often infused with humor and wisdom, left lasting impressions on all who had the privilege of listening. He was an entertainer at heart, and his lively spirit brightened the lives of those around him.

Gerhard's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Jorgenson Enterprises in 1964, a venture dedicated to providing wholesome Western adventures and entertainment to people of all ages. As the founder and proprietor, he crafted experiences that were as educational as they were enjoyable. He introduced countless individuals to the beauty of the outdoors, teaching horsemanship, survival skills, and the timeless values of hard work, perseverance, and respect for nature.

Gerhard was a skilled farmer, blacksmith, welder, machinist, builder, wrangler, and outfitter. He wore many hats throughout his life, never shying away from a challenge. His expertise in various trades and his love for the outdoors made him an invaluable mentor to those who sought his guidance. His contributions to the film industry, including providing livestock for movie productions, and providing and creating western décor for events, further showcased his versatility and passion for his craft. He also hosted summer camps for children, fostering a sense of responsibility and teaching important life lessons through hands-on experiences. Many people over the years have enjoyed his Dutch oven cooking, majestic horsedrawn carriages for weddings, authentic hayrides through Washington state parks, and horseback riding through Cherry Creek Falls in Duvall, WA.

Gerhard's heart was always open to others. He was a father to Brenda Dodd and Grandfather to Makena Dodd, he always placed great importance on family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henning (1999) and Gina (2018), as well as his brother Gene, who passed away in 2023. He is survived by his brothers Merrill (Wife Vaunda) of Prior Lake, MN; Curtis of Clinton, MN; Myron (Wife Marilyn) of Barnesville, MN; Harlen (Wife Cindy) of Ortonville, MN; Brenda and Makena Dodd of Deer Park, WA and his twins, Lori McCann of Monroe, WA and Lisa McCann of Carnation, WA.

Though Gerhard's presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched, his legacy will live on in the stories he shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

A celebration of Gerhard's life will be held at Snoqualmie Valley Bible Church 32615 NE 45th St.
Carnation, WA 98014 on May 3rd, 2025 at 12:00pm. All are welcome to come, pay respects, and share stories of our beloved cowboy!
