Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Klundt
September 26, 1942 – April 23, 2025

Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Klundt passed away peacefully in her sleep after a courageous battle with kidney failure. She was 82 years old. Betty lived a life full of love, community service, and quiet strength, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

Betty was born on September 26, 1942, in Bennington, Vermont, to Howard and Elizabeth Nichols. After graduating from Burr and Burton High School, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she worked at Honeywell, contributing to projects that supported the astronauts during the exciting early days of space exploration.

During a train ride home, fate intervened when Betty met John Klundt, who was traveling after completing basic training in the Army. Their connection was instant, and they married on September 24, 1966, beginning a journey together that would span decades.

Betty and John made their home in Kennewick, Washington, where they raised their family and became deeply rooted in the community. Betty dedicated herself to volunteering at her children's schools and ran a beloved in-home daycare for over 25 years, nurturing countless children with love and care. She also served on the Kennewick City Council, where she worked tirelessly to address important issues and better the city for future generations.

In 2009, Betty and John moved to Clayton, Washington, to be closer to four of their six cherished grandchildren. True to her nature, Betty once again immersed herself in the community, volunteering at local schools, attending all her grandchildren's activities, and dedicating her time to the SCOPE station in Deer Park.

Betty had a deep love for nature. She found joy in planting flowers, tending to her many houseplants, and feeding the animals that visited her yard. Her home was always full of life, warmth, and laughter.

Betty will be remembered for her kind heart, her tireless dedication to her family and community, and the simple, beautiful ways she made the world a better place.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a perennial in her memory — a lasting tribute that will bloom year after year, just as her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held at Woodland Cemetery, 5315 W. Monroe Rd., Deer Park, WA on Thursday, May 1st at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to come and honor her remarkable life.
