It is with great sadness that the family of Dwayne Aubra Dees announces his sudden passing on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at the age of 48.

Dwayne was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Dwayne was a proud U.S. Army disabled veteran who served his country faithfully and was honorably discharged in 1996.

Dwayne was born November 6, 1972 in Juneau, Alaska to Darrel and Julia Shutt Dees. He attended Ellensburg High School in Ellensburg, WA and obtained early entry into the National Guard. He attended boot camp between his junior and senior year of high school. Shortly after high school he joined the US Army.

After his time in the army he met his wife, Cynthia Frick in 1998 and they married in 2006. They settled in Spokane, WA where they raised their 3 daughters together.

Dwayne was avid gunsmith and airsoft enthusiast that designed airsoft parts and used airsoft to help guide and mentor young people. Through his military service and involvement in airsoft gunsmithing he made many friends. His kindness, loyalty and compassion for others touched many lives. Everyone was family to Dwayne.

As much as Dwayne loved his country and gunsmithing, his greatest love was his wife and daughters. He loved staying up late watching movies and dancing with his wife and always read stories, sang, and said prayers with his girls. He was always there for the important moments in their lives. He always knew what to say or when to give the biggest bear hugs.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Cynthia Frick-Dees, daughters Marrissa Lynn Sterner, Alexis Sophia Dees, and Moira Anne Dees, grandson James Able Peter Peavey, sisters Lisa Mayer and Becky Conner, and brother Leon Newman and mother-in-law Frances Frick as well as the many people who called him friend.

He was proceeded in death by his father Darrel Dees and mother Julia Shutt Dees.

Visitation will be at Sacred Heart Church located at 219 E Rockwood Blvd in Spokane, WA at 10 am on September 30. Funeral services will begin at 11 am.

After the funeral services there will be a ceremony and presentation of honors at exactly 2:30 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery located at 21702 E Espanola Rd in Medical Lake.

Following both services there will be a simple reception at the Lincoln Center at 1316 N Lincoln Street in Spokane starting at 3:30.
