Donald Rodger Stevens was born to Warren and Luella Stevens on October 24, 1939.  He graduated from Deer Park High School in 1957, attended EWU for three years, and was then drafted into the US Army where he spent two delightful years at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. In 1964 he graduated from EWU and married his high school sweetheart, Letha Kim Hegre. While working towards his master's degree, Don held a teaching position with Spokane School District 81 until 1991. From age 17 until retirement from teaching, he worked summers for the Department of Natural Resources as a firefighter. Don also held a very rewarding position as Assistant Coach for the Deer Park wrestling team for four years under Coach Dean Largent. To round out his work career, he and Larry Barden played 'logger' out on the family property. Don thoroughly enjoyed his last work endeavor selling real estate for Ericks Realty out of Deer Park, WA. In later years, he followed the example of his great-grandfather Albert Moses of Deer Park (who had served four terms in the state legislature) by serving on the Deer Park City Council for 20 years.

Don is survived by his wife, Kim of 56 years at the home. He is also survived by his three children: Lynnae (Cary) Erickson of Centralia, WA, Donald Scott (Julie) Stevens of Clayton, WA, and Brant (Emily) Stevens of Liberty Lake, WA. Don is also survived by a brother, Albert (Jackie) Stevens of Concord, CA, and a sister, Darla (Jim) Howe of Estero, FL.

'Boppa Don,' as we called him, was so proud of each and everyone of his 12 grandchildren. They will always remain a constant joy.
